Nikolaj, Copenhagen Contemporary Art Center, presents 7-9 exhibitions a year by Danish and international contemporary artists on a high professional level. The exhibition programme typically features single artist presentations as well as thematic exhibitions including several artists. The Lower and Upper Galleries provide the settings for the changing exhibitions, and the large rooms in the old building are ideally suited for installations and multimedia works which interact with the room as a significant part of the work. Nikolaj, Copenhagen Contemporary Art Center, furthermore houses concerts, performances and lectures, typically as a supplement to the ongoing exhibitions.
Nikolaj, Copenhagen Contemporary Art Center, can moreover present the three permanent installations, The Crying Space, The Jukebox and SLEEP. These installations are available to the extent that current exhibitions do not require they be temporarily removed.
